Oyo LG Poll: Wonders In Orire PDP As Councillorship Aspirant Turns Chairmanship Aspirant Overnight

A group within the Peoples Democratic Party in Orire Local Government of Oyo state, Battle Against Imposition, has raised alarm over possible injustice and imposition of candidate in the PDP local Government primary election slated for tomorrow.

The group in a statement made available to Heritage News on Wednesday expressed concern on how a person known to be contesting for Councillor made it to the list of Chairmanship aspirants.

Read the full statement;

"Sequel to the time table released by the Oyo state Independent electoral commission OYSIEC that gives opportunity to every political party to participate in the Local Government Election, it's worrisome to hear the unbelievable that OYSIEC can sold a form or interchange an application for councillorship to Chairmanship after the closure date.

"With all indication, it is Crystal clear that five persons purchased the form of Chairmanship in Orire Local Government with the following names.

1. Monilola Lydia Bankole

2. Okunlola Aiyelagbe

3. Adekunle Bankole

4. Jelili Adeniran

5. Kolawole Olusola

"After due process of screening by OYSIEC, One among them was confirmed to be disqualified by the Oyo state independent electoral commission making it to remain four candidate in the Chairmanship race.

"The question is how come did Alabi Micheal Olateju suddenly became a Chairmanship Candidate in Orire Local Government Election?.

 HOW POSSIBLE WAS IT?

"Everything is possible with power at hand but at the face of Justice, transparency and fear of God the possibility might be hard to have his way, we won't fold our hands to watch us been robbed or maltreated in our same party.

 OUR APPEAL TO GSM AND OYSIEC

"We plead for justice and transparency, Ogbomoso zone and most especially Orire Local Government has suffered bittered from the imposition this present administration has brought to Us. Track records are there to make reference to, those who are enjoying the goodies of the party are those that came at last minute of the election and those who worked tirelessly against the emergence of Eng. Seyi Makinde, "Monkey dey work, Baboon dey chop", May our efforts not be in vain. If truly the purported rumor are true, we hereby write to Oyo state independent electoral commission for necessary corrections in other not to damage the trust we have in the whole exercise"

 WE SAY NO TO IMPOSITION

"Who ever win should win victoriously, we pray for smooth, free and  credible Primary Election tomorrow, any plans to impose a candidate who lately purchased form or whose form was switched from counsellorship to Chairmanship won't work".

Here are three salient questions begging for answers;

1. When did Alabi Michael Olateju make up the list of contestants for Chairmanship race in Orire?

2. Did he undergo any screening process by OYSIEC?

3. How possible is it to change a contestant for counsellor to Chairman without purchasing form at due time?. Is it constitutional?

We pray for justice, let the needful be done.

Signed:

Battle against imposition in Orire Local Government.

BREAKING: FG Orders NDLEA to Stop Recruitment Exercise

The Federal Government through the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has directed the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to put screening of 5,000 new recruits on hold. The ordered was contained in a statement Friday night by Dayo Apata, Solicitor General of the Federation. Apata is also the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice. NDLEA had asked the candidates to go to the agency’s academy, Citadel Counter-Narcotics Nigeria, (CCNN) at Katton-Rikkos, Jos, Plateau State. They are to appear for the screening and documentation exercise between January 10 and 23, 2021. But Malami said though the exercise is long overdue and necessary for the actualization of the NDLEA mandate, “the timing is ill-advised and inappropriate.” The AGF cited the current and alarming wave of COVID-19 pandemic across the country. Malami directed Apata to seek advice from the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on the public health ...
