Osun Government to welcome 2021 with fire works

 The Government of the State of Osun has announced plan to herald the new year with fireworks.  This was contained in a statement issued on thursday by the state's Commissioner for Youth and sports, Hon Yemi Lawal, in Osogbo, the state capital.  Hon Lawal stated that the fireworks display is to usher the good people of the state into the new year. Stressing that the display will take the place of the state-sponsored annual countdown event which has been cancelled due to the recent surge in cases of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Commissioner disclosed the towns where the government would officially display fireworks to usher in year 2021 to include, Osogbo, Ila-Orangun, Ikirun, Ilesa and Iwo.  Others are Ede, Ejigbo, Ijebu-jesa and Ikire.  In Osogbo, the display will take place at the Government House, while the palaces of the Royal father will host the lighting in the other towns.  The Commissioner added that this is a way of welcoming the year in tandem...

New year message: Rep. Salam charges Nigerian youths to take the present and future in their hands

The member representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency of Osun state in the National Assembly, Representative Bamidele Salam has charged Nigerian youths to take charge of the present and the future by doing extraordinary things in the new year.  A new Commissioner of Police, CP Olokode Olawale (psc) has been posted to Osun State Police Command and assumed office following the recent promotion and redeployment of the former State Commissioner of Police, CP Udie J. Adie (psc+) who is now AIGP. This was contained in statement issued on Wednesday evening by the Osun State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Opalola Yemisi. CP Olokode Olawale was born some decades ago in Odeda L.G.A, Ogun State. He has grown to become an achiever. The Commissioner of Police, a holder of M.SC in Peace & Conflict Resolutions Studies from National Open University of Nigeria and B. Saraki opens up on tenure as Senate President

Former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday, opened up on the decisions he took during his time as the 13th Senate President of Nigeria. Saraki said some of the decisions he took were in the interest of the country. He was responding to a tweet by Dele Momodu, the Publisher of Ovation Magazine, who described him as one of the “most intelligent, courageous and urbane Leaders in Nigeria”. Momodu also said “Many now appreciate his unprecedented interventions in the 8th National Assembly.” Responding, Saraki said the decisions taken by the Senate’s legislative body were never about a personal agenda. BS-E4 2021 Business and Leadership Bootcamp Registration opens

  Registration for the annual BS-E4 Business and Leadership Bootcamp for 2021 is now open. The programme, an initiative of Rep. Bamidele Salam is targeted at raising business owners in Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun state. It will hold on Thursday, 14th January, 2021 at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent orientation camp, Ede, Osun State. Scores killed as jets bombard Sambisa Forest

  Boko Haram terrorists suspected to be responsible for recent attacks in parts of Borno and Adamawa States have been killed at the ‘S’ Region in the heart of the Sambisa forest. The young Nigerian boy — who’s based in the U.K. — made a historical discovery by unearthing a new mathematical formula to make the study of mathematics easier to understand. 'COVID-19 cases, deaths are not high in Africa' - Bill Gate

Bill Gates, a co-founder of Microsoft and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), has said that he does not understand why coronavirus numbers have not been as high as predicted in Africa. Gates and his wife, Melinda had in more than one occasion, warned that there will be dead bodies all over the streets of Africa if the world does not act fast enough. Melinda said her heart was in Africa, adding that she is worried that the continent might not be able to handle the devastating effect of the virus. But in his end of the year Bill said he was happy his prediction about Africa has not happened, “One thing I’m happy to have been wrong about—at least, I hope I was wrong—is my fear that COVID-19 would run rampant in low-income countries.
