Why NECO seized results of over 30,000 students - Officials

 For failure to pay examination fees of its students National Examination Council, NECO, has withheld results of the over 30,000 students of Niger State. Following this development, affected students risk forfeiting their admissions into higher institutions for one or more years. It was gathered that the lean purse of the state government has hindered the release of funds to pay fees leading to the huge debt. It is said that students who graduated in 2019 and 2020 from Niger State are yet to access their results due the debt . Recall that the state government had earlier said it would not pay the NECO fees of non-indigenes and indigent students who did not get seven credits in the mock examinations organized by the state government. However, it was gathered that the non-indigent students who paid the NECO fees to the state government are still unable to access their results because NECO said such fees were not remitted to it by the state government. Fulani people in the North are afraid to visit the southwest states for fear of being attacked — Seriki Fulani Of Oyo State

 The Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir, on Saturday said none of his children was killed in the alleged attack by youths on his Igangan settlement. Newsmen also learnt on Saturday evening that the attack on the Seriki's house happened shortly after a pro-Oodua Republic agitator, Sunday Igboho, and his men left Igangan. The Seriki however told newsmen that his children and first wife sustained gunshot injuries and were responding to treatment at an undisclosed hospital. Varsity student, 21-yr-old arrested for internet fraud in Osun

 The Osun State Police Command has arrested one Musa Mohammed Musa, a 400 level student of the Political Science Department of the Oduduwa University, Ipetu Modu for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians using the internet. Newsmen  gathered that Musa had opened a fake Twitter account in the name of a popular social media personality, Jaruma Empire, through which he garnered more than 10,000 followers before luring and duping some of them with ‘giveaways’. The suspect was also alleged to have perfected the act by opening a bank account in the name of Nigeria’s leading logistics company, GIG Logistics, through which he defrauded several victims by asking them to pay money for freight into the account. It was also gathered that Musa, on receiving money transfers, immediately proceeded to block further communications with his victims.
