Osun Government to welcome 2021 with fire works

 The Government of the State of Osun has announced plan to herald the new year with fireworks.  This was contained in a statement issued on thursday by the state's Commissioner for Youth and sports, Hon Yemi Lawal, in Osogbo, the state capital.  Hon Lawal stated that the fireworks display is to usher the good people of the state into the new year. Stressing that the display will take the place of the state-sponsored annual countdown event which has been cancelled due to the recent surge in cases of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Commissioner disclosed the towns where the government would officially display fireworks to usher in year 2021 to include, Osogbo, Ila-Orangun, Ikirun, Ilesa and Iwo.  Others are Ede, Ejigbo, Ijebu-jesa and Ikire.  In Osogbo, the display will take place at the Government House, while the palaces of the Royal father will host the lighting in the other towns.  The Commissioner added that this is a way of welcoming the year in tandem...

 A new Commissioner of Police, CP Olokode Olawale (psc) has been posted to Osun State Police Command and assumed office following the recent promotion and redeployment of the former State Commissioner of Police, CP Udie J. Adie (psc+) who is now AIGP. This was contained in statement issued on Wednesday evening by the Osun State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Opalola Yemisi. Saraki opens up on tenure as Senate President

Former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday, opened up on the decisions he took during his time as the 13th Senate President of Nigeria. Saraki said some of the decisions he took were in the interest of the country. He was responding to a tweet by Dele Momodu, the Publisher of Ovation Magazine, who described him as one of the “most intelligent, courageous and urbane Leaders in Nigeria”. Bill Gates, a co-founder of Microsoft and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), has said that he does not understand why coronavirus numbers have not been as high as predicted in Africa. Takanakuy ( "to hit each other")  is an annual established practice of fighting fellow community members held on 25 December, by the inhabitants of Chumbivilcas Province , near Cuzco in Peru . I won’t give ASUU opportunity to go on strike again –Ngige

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige , on Wednesday , said he won ’ t give the Academic Staff Union of University any excuse to go on strike again . EFCC Secures Two Convictions for Fraud in Kaduna

Justice M. Tukur of the State High Court Kaduna has convicted and sentenced two persons to various jail terms for fraud.  One of them, Adeshina Abdulrasheed was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment on a one count charge bordering on cheating and impersonation, while the other, Danjuma Bilyaminu bagged six months jail term.
