Party membership is a tool to which the system of that society work for all, it is one of the factors that makes governance of the country to be democratic, by accommodating and sensitizing the citizens towards the importance of party membership and political participation.  The Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir, on Saturday said none of his children was killed in the alleged attack by youths on his Igangan settlement. Newsmen also learnt on Saturday evening that the attack on the Seriki's house happened shortly after a pro-Oodua Republic agitator, Sunday Igboho, and his men left Igangan. The Seriki however told newsmen that his children and first wife sustained gunshot injuries and were responding to treatment at an undisclosed hospital. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the state chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders of Nigeria, Alhaji Ibrahim Jiji, on Saturday urged the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, to work his talk by ensuring that Igboho is arrested.  The Osun State Police Command has arrested one Musa Mohammed Musa, a 400 level student of the Political Science Department of the Oduduwa University, Ipetu Modu for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians using the internet. Newsmen  gathered that Musa had opened a fake Twitter account in the name of a popular social media personality, Jaruma Empire, through which he garnered more than 10,000 followers before luring and duping some of them with ‘giveaways’. The suspect was also alleged to have perfected the act by opening a bank account in the name of Nigeria’s leading logistics company, GIG Logistics, through which he defrauded several victims by asking them to pay money for freight into the account. It was also gathered that Musa, on receiving money transfers, immediately proceeded to block further communications with his victims. The Oyo state government has approved payment of N8bn to Osun state as part of agreements reached for the sole ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho. The money, according to the Oyo government is to be paid in four installments, over a period of three years. These were disclosed on Tuesday during a briefing after the weekly State Executive Council meeting presided over Governor Seyi Makinde. Commissioners Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun (Information, Culture and Tourism), Olasunkanmi Olaleye (Education, Science and Technology), Seun Asamu (Energy and Mineral Resources), Governor Seyi Makinde’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Taiwo Adisa and the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, Mr Jide Ajani attended the briefing.  A group within People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Osun state, ‘Vote Adeleke 2022’ have concluded plan to empower the citizens ahead of the 2022 governorship election in the state. The socio- political group, at the end of their executive meeting held last Saturday said, the empowerment forms have been distributed to all the 30 local governments of the state including Ife area office, which are expected back for quick take off of the empowerment. The Federal Government through the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has directed the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to put screening of 5,000 new recruits on hold. The ordered was contained in a statement Friday night by Dayo Apata, Solicitor General of the Federation. Apata is also the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice. NDLEA had asked the candidates to go to the agency’s academy, Citadel Counter-Narcotics Nigeria, (CCNN) at Katton-Rikkos, Jos, Plateau State. They are to appear for the screening and documentation exercise between January 10 and 23, 2021. But Malami said though the exercise is long overdue and necessary for the actualization of the NDLEA mandate, “the timing is ill-advised and inappropriate.” The AGF cited the current and alarming wave of COVID-19 pandemic across the country.
